This week chemistry will be working on the Glow Baby Halloween Lab (explaining and testing why a glow stick glows). Physical Science will be conducting their Smashing Pumpkins Halloween Lab (testing the mass and force of an object dropping out the second-story window, and engineering a contraption to ensure the safety of the pumpkin).
Forensic Science will be extracting DNA next week using Gatorade and pineapple juice.

All of our students came together this afternoon for our annual Red Ribbon Week photo.
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated annually from October 23-31 to highlight the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. During Red Ribbon Week, youth and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The dress-up theme for Nute tomorrow is "Lei off drugs", we look forward to seeing everyone in their tropical outfits.
Happy Friday Rams! What a great week in the Ram Nation. On Wednesday our Volleyball teams had their Dig Pink Night raising awareness about breast cancer and honoring survivors. With the support of the fans and community, the volleyball program raised $500 that they were able to donate to My Breast Cancer Journey, a local non-profit that assists breast cancer patients and their families. Thursday evening our National Honor Society welcomed their new members with an induction ceremony. The National Honor Society recognizes students who display strength in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Today we hosted a College and Career Expo in the gym, where 17 local colleges, career opportunities, and military recruiters had the chance to meet with every high school student and talk about their futures. Middle school classes were able to walk through and spend a little time in there as well. Granite Advantage was also there and will be back this coming Friday to support our Apply NH event, where seniors will get to apply to NH Colleges for free and enter for a chance at a $500 scholarship. We will also have support helping students prepare to enter trades or the workforce upon graduation. If you are looking to check in and hear from students on what is happening around the school then be sure to check out P3Tea, an ELO podcast for the whole Rams Nation. In this student-run podcast, they discuss school topics, life, and what is happening in our school and community. They have four episodes posted on the ELO page which you can access from our school website.

Tomorrow night our High School Volleyball teams host Franklin for their last home game of the season, more importantly they are having their Dig Pink night, raising awareness and funds for the fight against Breast Cancer. Concessions will be available. There will also be an information booth for those wanting to know more about resources available.

Nute will have Picture re-take day on November 13th. If you are doing retakes please remember to bring in your original proof sheet, a new one will be printed for you. If you missed picture day you can have your pictures done on retake day as well.
The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd has been moved to Thursday, October 24th at 7 pm.

On Friday, October 25th we will be hosting a College and Career Expo for High School Students to meet with representatives from local colleges and career opportunities. This event has been coordinated by our High School Counselor and ELO Coordinator. We are excited to provide this opportunity to our students and help them be aware of some of the options they have. This is also a great event leading up to APPLY NH Day on November 1st where Seniors have access to admissions counselors, apply to NH Colleges for free, or work on plans for career readiness.
Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW’s) premier scholarship program. Each year, nearly 27,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is, “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?”
The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12 by the Oct. 31 deadline who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools.
High School ELA classes with Mrs. Reed have spent the last few weeks looking at documents from the Founding Fathers (Patrick Henry's Speech to the Virginia Convention and the Dec of Independence) and learning about Rhetorical Strategies, They are now drafting their essays. Final drafts will be due next week. Students who choose to enter their essays can. Nute students have had great success with this program historically and look to continue their contributions with the support of our local VFW.

Students in Mr. Gray's 7th grade science are practicing the scientific method, measuring, and graphing by making paper airplanes and testing them. These skills will also be used in math, social studies, tech ed, and computers

The areas of endeavor are Community/Public Service, Athletics, Music, Arts, Sciences, Education, Literature, Military, Technology, and Business.
